Singapore: Appointment Alert!

Appointment Alert!
Typical vacation time is around Chinese New Year (End Jan or Feb) as well as any long weekend where a public holiday falls close to a weekend and around Christmas time, where many Expatriates fly back to their respective home countries. Other than that, Singapore is open for business 365 days a year with many businesses still open on Saturday (at least half day).
Bad times for business trips to Singapore include the one week before and one week after Chinese New Year as well as between Christmas and New Year. However, it is always wise to check the Singapore list of public holidays in order to avoid disappointment since many Public holidays have changing dates. Most offices are working 09:00 to 18:00 hours with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 – 13:00. Government offices open earlier, however. Singapore transportation is pretty effective, with taxis being the most flexible and a cost effective means of transportation for the visiting business person. So, arriving late for an appointment can hardly be blamed on traffic. One should arrive a few minutes before the meeting to allow time to go through building security, elevator transit times and reception procedures (security passes).
