Taiwan: Appointment Alert!

Appointment Alert!
Punctuality is a virtue – appointments are easy to schedule at all organizational levels. Telephone and e-mail contact is most convenient for such a purpose. The business office hours are 9:00AM to 5:30PM, Monday to Friday. Make sure you arrive for appointments on time, but if you are running late due to an unexpected traffic jam, it is acceptable to be late if your contact is notified. Be aware of major holidays such as Chinese New Year time, Tuan-Wu (or Dragon Boat Festival) and Mid-Autumn holiday; it will be like Christmas time and hard to get hold of anybody around that time of the year.
The major holidays in Taiwan: (note that some holidays vary due to the lunar calendar each year)
January 1: New Year’s Day
February 6-11: Chinese Lunar Calendar New Year holiday (it will vary according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar)
April 4: Memory Day
May 1: Labor Day
June 15: Poet’s Day (Also called Tuan-Wu, or Dragon Boat Day)
September 8: Mid Autumn Festival (the full-moon holiday)
October 10: National Anniversary
