At the business meeting, usually people will exchange name cards and introduce themselves. To be fully aware of the person’s title and job you are meeting and dealing with is very important for your business success. If you know the honorable title of your counterpart, it is at advantage to address him or her with Chairman, Chairperson, Doctor, or President with the surname. Once you are familiar with the person, they may request that you call each other by first names for the sake of closeness, and that should be a significant sign of your progress with the person.
